From social media and influencers to algorithms and AI, children’s digital lives are evolving rapidly — and many parents feel unequipped to keep pace.
That is why UNESCO, together with UNESCO, CLEMI and Réseau Canopé, created Growing Up in a Connected World — a practical guide that helps families navigate the digital world through media and information literacy. With the contributions of 37 experts and profesionnals from around the world, including our IAME board member Eduk-Media Cameroon.
The guide provides accessible, evidence-based advice on screen use, social media, cyberviolence, content creation, algorithms, artificial intelligence and more.
Parents need practical tools. Children need opportunities to build critical thinking. And families need trust, dialogue and shared understanding to navigate digital life together.
As technology continues to evolve, empowerment remains the approach that endures: empowering parents, educators, children and young people to make informed choices and exercise their rights online.
