I worked in the British Film Institute’s Education Department for 27 years, developing definitions, teacher training, classroom resources, events and research on learning outcomes, and undertaking advocacy for media education nationally and internationally. I then chaired the Media Education Association in England, after which I did doctoral research leading to a PhD, awarded in 2018. My last book is “How Toddlers Learn the Secret Language of Movies” (Palgrave 2022) and I am publishing another book in 2026 with Routledge, for Early Years practitioners and parents of 0-3-year-olds.
