Norbert Vrabec

Assoc. Prof. Norbert Vrabec, PhD. was awarded the academic degree “philosophiae doctor” (PhD.) in the field of Marketing Communication and Advertisement at the Faculty of Arts at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia. The topic of his doctorate thesis: State and Development Trends in Media Education. He defended the academic degree of Associate Professor in habilitation thesis on the topic Paradigmatic Approaches and New Trends in Research of Media Literacy. Nowadays, he is a director of the International Centre of Media Literacy which is the part of the Faculty of Mass Media Communication of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, Slovakia. He is also a head of Department of Media Education. His research activities are focused mainly on the relationship between youth and media, social impacts of digital technologies and methodological aspects of research in media and media education. He participates in several development projects in the field of media studies and media education. He participates in various national and international conferences and his publication activities are concentrated on media literacy development, media research and new media. Norbert Vrabec is a member of the following international organizations and networks: European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA); UNESCO-UNAOC UNITWIN Network for Media and Information Literacy; European Association for Viewers Interests (EAVI); EU Kids Online: Multinational Research Network (EUKO); Media Literacy Expert Group.
