Webinar : Beyond easy answers: media literacy and information disorder

Join our next online webinar on Tuesday 18th March 2025 at 17.00 CET.

Over the past decade, there has been growing concern about an apparent crisis in information; and media literacy has been widely seen as one of the potential solutions to the problem. This has caused some to argue for a combined form of ‘Media and Information Literacy’. Now, ten years on, seems like a good point to critically re-evaluate these arguments.

In this IAME webinar, we present Swedish academics Jutta Haider and Olof Sundin – both experts on information literacy, and the authors of an important book on the topic Paradoxes of Media and Information Literacy, published by Routledge. Haider and Sundin will be in conversation with David Buckingham, and the session will be chaired by Maria Leonida.

In our view, the book brings a fresh critical perspective to the debate, and usefully challenges some established assumptions about both media literacy and information literacy.
